There are certain people who know exactly what they want to pursue in life early on. If you want to follow a career path in nursing, you may want to look into the various online licensed practical nursing programs that you can take. This will be more comfortable for you as the student. You will be able to manage your time and learn things at your own phase. But before you proceed and choose from the available online licensed practical nursing programs, you must first be sure about your time management skills. You must study what should be learned so that you will be able to finish the program in a year or less. Nursing as a career can be fulfilling especially if you are the type who care for people and their well-being. If this is the path that you wish to take, you can first try to be a nurse's assistant.
After learning practical chores and determining if you are able to do the duties of a nurse, you can then get a program to qualify you as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This is also called in some states as Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). The program will help you prepare on an entry level position in the healthcare system. If you will be lucky to get employment in hospitals after you have graduated, you will be tasked to be under a Registered Nurse (RN). You will observe patients, get their vital signs like blood pressure, temperature, respiration and pulse. It is also your duty to observe how the patients react to medications and treatments. If you see any untoward events and you feel that possible dangers may befall on the patients, you must immediately report your observation to the RN in charge of them.
Even though you are confident that you can perform more than what you have been told to do as an LPN, you must not go beyond what was asked from you. The RN will get into trouble if you are going to do more tasks beyond your duties as an LPN. They will be apprehended for your action. And you don't want to do that because eventually, you will get further education to become an RN. This way, your career will become more stable and you will be right on track with the nursing career path.
